The BLUE BUS & The WHITE BUS |
Working as an outreach of AICM is a very special ministry called the Apache Christian Connection (ACC). There are now two buses, the "Blue Bus", Gene and Sherry Brenneman and the
"Great White", Bill and Kim Reynolds, who drive converted school buses to conduct a mobile ministry on the White Mountain Apache Reservation to over 20 locations. They and the ministry teams that
accompany them provide Biblical teaching through stories, songs, and crafts to relate to the children how much Jesus loves and cares for them. After the lessons, games and activities that include
roller blades to fingernail painting are all part of the fun for the local Apache children.
For most ministry teams, regardless of the age of its members, an afternoon doing this ministry on the reservation is often one of the most memorable afternoons of the trip. Being able to see the
living conditions, play and interact with the kids and understand a little bit more of the Apache culture is more times than not, a life changing and spiritually defining event.
So Much More Than just play.....
Through the Apache Christian Connection, AICM has built relationships of trust and respect with the children, their families, local pastors, and tribal leaders. With the help of visiting ministry
teams, ACC conducts VBS programs at churches across the reservation or just in the neighborhood, during the summer. They also assist with camp meetings, conduct distributions of clothing, food,
school supplies, blankets, toys, and other various supplies throughout the year. They transport the children to AICM for a week of camp or for a weekend retreat. Food boxes and firewood is
delivered to families when needed as well. They participate in the local parades on the reservation, which is well received, with over 100lbs of candy being tossed out. They work hard at keeping
the connections with the communities.
When our school began in 1985, our student population was entirely Navajo children. Because of the impact of this ministry there are more Apache students now.
Please pray that God will continue to use His ministry through ACC to reach more children for His kingdom, as well as to allow Gene, Sherry, Bill and Kim to go into homes and minister to
families. May these young people become disciples for Christ to help reach their own peoples.
