Individual Arizona Tuition Tax Credit Information

There is a way to help students of the American Indian Christian Mission and receive a substantial TAX CREDIT for you at the same time.

New legislation allows Arizona residents to take a TAX CREDIT of $1000 per year for those who are married and filing jointly and $500 per year for those who are filing as single/head of household. AICM is participating in this program.

This law requires that an independent 3rd party STO handle the funds. Chaparral Christian Church has established the Chaparral Mission Scholarship Fund. This fund will be handling our tuition donations for the program. In order to qualify for the tax credit, your check should be made out to “Chaparral Mission Scholarship Fund, LTD”. If you participated in our Child Sponsorship Program, I encourage you to send your funds to them so you can take advantage of this great opportunity for a credit on your Arizona State Income tax. You may place that child’s name on the note line of your check, along with a note to AICM. If you do not sponsor a child, you may still take advantage of this program. Just make a contribution to the fund in the name of AICM and we will disperse the funds accordingly.

See our FAQ sheet if you do have further questions about this program. Please do not hesitate to call or write the mission as well.

Thank you for considering this way to help the students of the American Indian Christian Mission.

In Christ,

Roger Nosker

Executive Director

F.A.Q.

The Arizona Private School Tuition Tax Credit Law

1. If I decide to donate to the Chaparral Mission Scholarship Fund, what is the process?

Just mail a check to the Chaparral Mission Scholarships Fund at 6451 E Shea Blvd; Scottsdale, AZ 85254. Put American Indian Christian School on the memo line of the check. They will send you a letter acknowledging your contribution that you need to save for your tax records. It's that simple.

2. Do I receive a receipt for my donation besides my cancelled check?

Yes, we send receipts to all donors upon receipt of your donation.

3. Do I get the entire $1000 as a state income tax credit?

Yes. If your state income tax liability is that much or more you can use it for that year’s taxes. Otherwise any excess can be carried forward and used to offset state taxes for up to five years.

4. We file joint tax returns, can we take more than $1000 as a credit?

No, $1000 is the maximum whether married filing jointly or filing as a single person. Married persons filing separate are entitled to a $1000 combined credit.

5. How much of my donation goes for grant/scholarships and how much goes for administration of the fund?

The law allows up to 10% to be used for administration. The Chaparral Mission Scholarship Fund will only take actual expenses, that should be substantially less than the 10% and by law will never be over 10%.

6. May I donate less than $1000?

Yes, $1000 is the maximum credit allowed in one year.

7. May I also make the $200 public school donation and receive the credit, a total of $1200?

Yes.

8. Is my donation also eligible for a federal income tax deduction?

Yes. We are a federally tax exempt 501(c)(3) charitable organization. You should consult your tax adviser for specific tax advice concerning deductibility for you.

9. May I recommend my grandchild for a grant/scholarship?

Yes, you may recommend anyone who is not your legal dependent.

10. May I make an agreement to recommend someone else's child in exchange for their recommending my child?

No, that may violate the intent of the statute’s prohibition on designating one’s dependent.

11. What happens if I don't choose to recommend anyone?

Our organization assigns all donations to worthy applicants.

12. Who is on the Fund Board?

The Board is made up of members of the Chaparral Christian Church.
Dr. Larry Hostettler, Secretary, Sr. Minister.
Mary Cartwright, President, Associate Minister.
Bob Ganz, Treasurer, Elder, and owner of Creative Press.
