The American Indian Christian School began in 1985. Since then, hundreds of children from the Navajo and Apache nations have benefited from the quality Christ-centered education offered them. Children spend the school year boarding at the mission and going home every weekend to spend time with their families.
Our school offers classes to students from 3rd through 9th grade.
Parents send their children to our school for a variety of reasons. They know that their children will receive a quality education. If a child comes to us after being educated in reservation schools for any length of time, they are usually 1-2 grade levels behind where they should be. We intentionally keep our class sizes small so our teachers are able to catch them up quickly.
The parents also recognize that their children will be kept safe in an environment that is physically superior to what most of them come from. Some of our students come from areas on the reservations that do not have running water or electricity. They face issues of drug and alcohol abuse, gang violence and physical abuse in their communities. The parents realize that their children will not be subject to these things at the mission.
Even though some of the children do not come from Christian families, their parents know they will receive spiritual training at AICM. This is important to Native American people. Please join in prayer with us that these children will continue to be open and receptive to the message of Christ and will be witnesses to their families and to their own people.
Many Native traditions are positive and life affirming. AICM strives to present the gospel of Christ in a culturally relevant manner. Please pray with us that we can raise up a generation of Christian Native American leaders from these children.
